Gyeongbokgung Palace

Gyeongbokgung Palace is a must-visit palace for first time Seoul visitors, It is the largest out of the five in Seoul (Changgyeonggung, Gyeonghuigung, Deoksugung, Changdeokgung).

Built in 1395, it is commonly referred to as the “Northern Palace” because it is located furthest north compared to the neighboring palaces, Changdeokgung and Gyeongheegung. Gyeongbokgung Palace is arguably the most beautiful, and remains the largest of all five palaces. Travelers loved learning about the history of the palace and how it played into the larger story of both Seoul and South Korea. Visitors also admired the beautiful yet extensive grounds, saying you'll need at least a couple of hours to see everything the palace has to offer.

Visiting the palace during special holidays like Chuseok makes for a great experience as there are cultural programs and events being held such as traditional dancing and singing performances and the opportunity to participate in traditional games and arts and crafts. It is a great opportunity to fully embrace Korean culture and the colors also look amazing in photos.
