Southern Coast and Waterfalls Full-Day Bus Tour from Reykjavik
Yourfull-day tour will take you through the ever-changing landscape of southIceland to discover some of the country's biggest volcanoes, glaciers and most iconicwaterfalls. After lunch (own expense) visit the black sand beach ofReynisfjara, see the famous Skogafoss waterfall and try walking behind theSeljalandsfoss waterfall. Your guide will also point out several notoriousvolcanoes, including Hekla, Eyjafjallajokull and Katla. Hotel pick-up anddrop-off is included.
Your guidewill pick you up at your hotel at 8:30am to begin your full-day guided bus tourthrough the south Iceland farming lands to the black sand beaches, thunderingwaterfalls, powerful volcanoes and majestic glaciers on the south Coast.
The firststop will be at Skogafoss. This is a picturesque 200-foot (60-meter) tallwaterfall, and due to its striking appearance it is frequently used in moviesand commercials.
Afterstopping at a local restaurant for a lunch break at your own expense, continueon a leisurely stroll along the black sand beach of Reynisfjara. The beachfeatures stacks of basalt columns that wall off surrounding cliffs scatteredwith caves. You will be awed by the incredibly powerful waves of the Atlanticocean crashing on to the shore. Offshore you will see the Reynisdrangarpillars, basalt rock stacks that rise from the sea.
Next stop atSeljalandsfoss waterfall where you can walk behind the magnificent wall ofwater, right on the slopes of Eyjafjallajokull volcano.
On a clearday you will have a fantastic view of famous volcanoes such as Hekla andEyjafjallajokull. You will also see the Westman Islands, a volcanic archipelagorising steeply from the ocean about 2 miles (3 kilometers) off the coast.
Your tourreturns to Reykjavik at approximately 7 pm, where you will be dropped off nearyour hotel or at the bus terminal.
